Project Summary
The YMCA has been a cornerstone of the Eugene Oregon community since its establishment in 1887. In 1955, the YMCA’s Patterson Building became a central fixture of the city, serving as a community hub for decades. However, in recent years, it became clear the Y needed a larger facility with adequate parking to better serve members and provide childcare. The Service Family Foundation worked closely with the YMCA board and capital campaign committees to support the effort to raise the money needed to build its new 75,000 square foot facility.
Bill and Michelle provided early seed money that helped spur $47 million in fundraising to complete the project. The capital campaign was the largest in Lane County excluding those associated with the university of Oregon or Riverbend Hospital. The state-of-the-art facility opened to the public in December 2023 and was designed to meet the evolving needs of Lane County well into the future.
